Course Description
8 week clerkship

The eight-week surgical clerkship is composed of a one-month rotation on general surgery, vascular surgery and trauma at The Med. Students will take call approximately every third night. In addition, students will do a one-month rotation at Baptist, St. Francis, The VA, or Methodist University Hospital.

On the date of service change report to:

Elective - Page Senior Resident (790-9856 digital)

Trauma (A1/A2) - Go to the "green desk" (CCA)

Clinic - go to 4th floor of MedPlex (surgery clinic)

Methodist - Medical Education Department, 1st floor tower (room 135 - ask for Delores). Also, see Mickey Toepp, OR supervisor, prior to scrubbing in OR

St. Francis - call Dr. Scott King's nurse (Diane) 765-3160

Baptist - Call Dr. Lee Morisy's office 685-6066, or page him 866-300-6792 (also need to see Regina in MedEd for badges, etc. 226-1350).

VA - see Linda Love (523-8990, ext 6544) room CW332, 3rd floor Surgery 8:00 a.m.

Vascular (VASC) - page resident (418-5599) or Dr. Rohrer (392-3195)

ICU (A1/A2) - page TICU resident 790-9000

LeBonheur - page Peds fellow - 269-0208

Transplant - page Dr. Nezakatgoo (729-0705)

Clinical responsibilities end at 5 PM ISH on 4/27/09

Evaluation forms are due before written exam on 4/29/09.

Oral Exam - 2nd floor Coleman 8:00 a.m. on 4/29/09.

Written Exam-GEB Room A302 - 12:00 Noon on 4/29/09.

UNIVERSITY HOLIDAYS - Spring Break - 4/4/09-4/12/09
